My evolution of kimono styling / 着物スタイリングの進化

The first time to get in touch with kimono was in Kyoto years ago, when I rented a kimono for the first time.

It was like a dream come true and walking through the city dressed up traditionally made me feel so good. Life feels different while wearing kimono. Your whole body positure and way of walking and doing things changes, becomes more gracefully really.

初めて着物を着るのは京都でした。着物レンタルして街にまわりました。夢のような感じでしたし、夜に普通の洋服に着替えたくなかったです。

着物で生活が変わってくる。歩き方から話し方まで丁寧になる気もして素晴らしかったです。

Afterwards I had no time, knowledge nor idea how to be able to wear a kimono again.

Time passed by and the next time I was wearing wafuku was on a wedding party.

その後、着る機会とどうやって着物きれるのは分からなくて時間が立ちました。結婚式に誘ってもらったら、着物を着ることにした。

The kimono is from my mother in law but this was the next kick which made me want my own kimonos. Later I would go back to Kyoto to search the whole city for affordable yet nice kimono. And I did it and bought 3 kimono and 2 obi belt on the spot.

親戚の着物でしたので、自分のも欲しくなって、着物を探す為に京都に行ってきました。着物３点と名古屋帯２点で帰った。

Game changer

The first time to try putting the kimono by myself was hard and took hours but I successfully made it out.

This is my ensemble.

初めて自分で着物の着付けするのは大変でしたし、何時間もかかりましたが、完成！こちらの着物でした。

From there I tried many different coordinates, learned about proper dressing of kimono on the way and went out (in partly not perfectly worn kimono).

The pictures are in timely order from old to more recent.

そこから色々勉強しながら着付けやコーディネートで遊んでました。

古い写真から現在までの流れにいれました。

This was the first time I dressed someone else than me and it was not so easy. haha We had a great time in the city.

初めて他の人の着付けをしてみました。思ったより難しかったが、何とかなりまして二人でお出かけ♡

In this hot summer I tried my first summer kimono. 暑い夏に夏着物などを！

Also I made my first obi in black white checkered design. It is reversible.

自分のデザイン帯も作ってみました。

Having a walk in Odaiba. 友達とお台場にお出かけ。

The end of summer..

I really am addicted to kimono and am looking to create a modern and stylish look apart from the traditional ones.
