「きものサローネ2017」Kimono Salone
Like last year, I also joined the Kimono Salone event in Nihonbashi again. Because it was just before my New York trip I am super late to put everything into a proper blog post – but the pictures from the fashion show are too nice to keep them a secret.
Kimono Salone is a kimono event where many kimono brands and artisans gather to show their new collections as well a chance to learn and try out some traditional craft. This year I focused on the new collections and mainly came to view the runway shows. (Caution: Big photo wave ahead!)
きものサローネへ行ってきました。記事でまとめるのはとても遅いのですが、ちょうどニューヨークへの出発前でブログを書けなかったです。すみません・・ でも素敵な新作はたくさんあり、写真をシェアしないと勿体無いと思いました。
「きものサローネ」は日本橋にあるYUITOとCOREDOで着物展示イベントです。新作は着物ショーや展示でご覧になれ、トークイベント、伝統的な技術の体験まで色々あります。 今年は着物ショーの新作をメインで、写真をたくさんシェアさせてください。
Kimono outfit for the day with my own design up-cycled holographic obi and handmade holo collar. (Not so well visible in the pictures, but I’m experimenting with new designs and materials atm.)

I always adore the vibrant colours and designs. The music theme this time was The Beatles and it was super cheerful!
ビートルズの音楽に合わせて楽しい着物ショーでした。青野工房のビビットな色づかいなどはとても好きで気に入りです。

A more traditional and toned down collection but the shimmery checkered kimono and summer kimono with dolphin were breathtaking!
伝統的なデザインは多いのかもしれませんが、ツヤありの市松着物やイルカの夏着物でたいへん驚き、好きになっちゃいました。

No disappointment here as well. I love the dark designs and the warm winter coats and shawls are to die for. A great collection!

In between the shows I took time to stroll around and met many familiar faces. Thanks to everyone who said hi!

Also I finally got the chance to try out the Sumi-nagashi dye method for which you drop dye onto a water surface and then proceed to stir and create a pattern carefully with a stick. Once satisfied you lay fabric on top and the dye sticks onto it. I made a han-eri (kimono collar) for myself.
そして前回に見落としました「武田工房の墨流し染体験会」をやってみた！ 水の上に染料を乗せてからスティックみたいなもので丁寧に染料を混ぜるとマーブルの柄になります。 最後に生地を水・染料の上に乗せると色は生地を染めます。 今回の体験で半衿は仕上がりました！ありがとうございました！
Seems like 13,500 people visited this years event.
今年は合計で13,500人のお客さんがいらっしゃいましたみたいですね。
