Day 10

The bit of rest yesterday didn’t really improve much so we decided also to not push things today and had a start with a slow walk along the lake (because we had to check out anyway).

Since the other mountain directly at the late (Shiojiri-toge) also seemed quite steep, we decided to skip that one too for my foots health sake and tunnelled it via train to the next stop behind the mountain: Shiojiri.

Tomorrow we want to continue our journey slowly and station wise it makes sense to stay in the popular Narai-juku tomorrow, in order to conquer the next mountain afterwards freshly in the morning.

So to shorten tomorrow’s kilometre count we walked about 5 km on the Nakasendo today to Seba. Unfortunately it’s so countryside that there was no train back to Shiojiri- so we had to walk a bit far to find a restaurant to kill 1.5 hours until the next train.. Tomorrow we’ll start from that station.

Btw. Shiojiri seems famous for wine. There are grape plantations everywhere. Feels like in Switzerland a bit ^^ First the lake surrounded by mountains and now grapes and wine.

My Achilles tendon is still a bit swollen and not perfect but I keep icing it and take my medicine- so hopefully it will be okay soon.

Walked distance:
5 km (actually 12km but 5km on the Nakasendo)
Shiojiri to Seba

Money spent:
Train: 410¥ each
Konbini: 810¥
Lunch/Dinner: 2100¥
Hotel: 10500¥
= 14230¥

Today’s thoughts:
Good: Things are looking up
Bad: Hotels in the mountains are so crazy expensive
