Fashion Week Tokyo SS17
Last week it was time for Tokyo Fashion Week again.
Numerous designers from Japan and overseas showed their collections for Spring/Summer 2017 on the runway and in showrooms in Tokyo.
As every season I also went to see some shows, however I was a little more selective this year because it actually is quite tiring and I was not too healthy..
The main shows were held in Shibuya’s Hikarie building as every year – however the former “Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo” changed into “Amazon Fashion Week Tokyo”.
It feels weird after all these years..
However I went there and wore a kimono and haori jacket with normal clothes, belt and boots on my day 1:
So I only went on Wednesday and Friday to see following designers (in order of the shows):
DRESSEDUNDRESSED
The name was literally programme.
A usually rather plain biz attire changed with details like detachable sleeves, holes, and a kick of street fashion .. or just completely missing shirts.
I simply loved the leather pants coordinated with trench coats and lacquered boots.
Due to Dressedundressed being over a half an hour delayed we had to run like crazy to make it to Omotesando to see this show. Luckily they were also late and still had two seats front row for us!
TENBO
Tenbo always has a very deep story for its fashion shows. The models are from different cultures and also disabled models are being used – I love it so much.
This collection theme was “Hansen disease” aka. Leprosy and comes with a story of infected people being oppressed and mistreated in the old time (when we all didn’t know better).
Apparently they were kept locked up and forced into abortion, foetuses were preserved in formalin, they had to change their names etc. Until they found a cure!
The clothes tell this story beautifully. Also famous personality Haruna Ai (はるな愛) who is transgender modelled for this show. She is a real sweetheart.
LEONARD WONG
I was very excited for this collection as Leonard Wong is having quite a dark style and I heard some rumours about some special guests.. His concept is basing on alchemy and space among others.
And the rumours were correct. The fabulous AyaBambi (the vogue-goth dancer duo which toured with Madonna) were dancing right before my eyes. (And I am a huge fan since the beginning!) Also Akimoto Kozue, a rather famous model was on the runway.
His designs were pretty nice. I loved the experimental pieces most.
Unfortunately the light was way too dark to take proper pictures, but since you probably want to see AyaBambi dancing, I found this video of the runway show. (You can skip the visuals in the first minutes.)
Finally on the next day I went to see:
BEDSIDEDRAMA
A romantic yet down to earth collection with fairy tale elements and amazing hair styles!
The setting was nice and the detail of this collection very pretty.
Thanks for the great time!
