「ツイード着物 Sumire Ishioka」Tweed Kimono - a dream come true
For a while I have been circulating fabric houses and dreaming of making kimono with “western” fabric – including velvet, lace, cotton and tweed.
One lovely woman made my dreams come true:
以前から生地屋さんに回るとき、洋服でよく使われてるベルベット、レース、コットンやツイードで着物を作る夢があります。ツイードの着物はすでにデビューしたことが分かりませんでした！

SUMIRE ISHIOKA
This young but talented designer worked many years on searching and designing the perfect tweed for splendid kimonos.
I visited her showroom in Daikanyama, Tokyo with a friend to see the new tweed kimono collection.
そしてデザイナー石岡さんは若い方ですが、とてもしっかりして、完璧なツイードを作るため数年もツイードを作り直したらしい。友達のさとちゃんと代官山のショールームへ行ってきました。
Most of the tweed is designed by her and woven in Japan. It has many interesting details like gradation colour, glitter threads and even small metallic chains woven in – all this can be only observed by a close look.
She explained that making those tweed fabrics from scratch was very hard. Part of it being to convince old traditional artisans to weave the fabric the way she wanted it.
多くのツイードは石岡さんのデザイン、そして日本国内で織ったものです。
近くから見ると様々な素晴らしいディテールがみれる。糸のグラデーション、キラキラしてる糸や織り込んだ小さなチェーンなど。素晴らしいです！
Apart from kimono Sumire Ishioka also offers hand bags, zouri and accessories.
着物以外もバッグ、草履やアクセサリーあります。

We were able to try her kimono on and I was surprised how soft and cozy they were!

Some are selected fabrics and some are designed tweed fabric. A nice selection of colours.

Afterwards we went for a stroll in Daikanyama and visited an old house with garden, where I got bitten by mosquitos 8 times in my right foot. (Itchy hell!!)
You probably noticed already that I tried to create a more retro look with a lace gloves and beret.
Here is my style for the day:
ショールームの後は代官山でお散歩。お庭で右足だけに８っ回も蚊に刺された！！ヒィ〜
レース足袋のせい！痒かった〜〜
もう言わなくていいかもしれないけど、着物コーデは少しレトロな感じでやってみた。
